Investing in Businesses That Last

Some companies are best held across generations. At M²O, we provide patient, flexible capital that allows businesses to grow without the pressure of short exit timelines. Our permanent capital approach creates stability for employees, customers, and owners while enabling steady, compounding growth.

Background

What is Long-Term Hold (LTH)?

Long-Term Hold investing emerged as an alternative to traditional private equity, offering a structure that prioritizes flexibility, resilience, and lasting value. Rather than measuring success on short exit horizons, this approach recognizes the advantages of holding great businesses over extended periods of time.

Traditional private equity firms operate on a fixed timeline—acquiring, growing, and exiting businesses within 5–7 years. While that cycle can create results, it often pressures management teams to optimize for short-term outcomes.

Through our long-term hold strategy, we invest with permanent capital—patient equity that allows businesses to compound value without the constraints of an artificial exit horizon. This approach gives owners, employees, and communities the stability to focus on building durable, enduring enterprises.

About M²O

Enduring Partnerships: From 1992 to Today

Long-term investing and compounding are interwoven into the fabric of M²O’s investment philosophy. Our flexible capital approach has enabled us to remain invested in outstanding companies as they grow, evolve, and compound value over time.

Asurion Logo (1994–Present)

One of the first search funds we backed and a defining moment in the history of the model. Asurion exemplifies the power of long-term compounding and remains a cornerstone investment in our portfolio more than three decades later.

Lineage Logistics Logo (2012–Present)

A global leader in temperature-controlled logistics, Lineage has grown into one of the largest cold-storage providers worldwide. Since our initial investment, we have remained a long-term partner through its expansion, innovation, and IPO, continuing to support its leadership in the cold-chain sector.

Datacor Logo (2016–Present)

Originally a traditional search fund acquisition, Datacor’s long-term potential became evident as its leadership team drove continued growth. Rather than exit, we chose to remain a committed partner through multiple recapitalizations, supporting the company’s enduring trajectory.

These examples reflect a consistent theme across our portfolio: when a business is built to endure, we’re proud to remain invested for the journey.
